IMOKUROK
Early in 2021 I was reconnected to my imagination and started exploring it on a regular basis. I hadn’t even realized that I had lost touch with something so precious and powerful. I met new friends, uncovered big ideas and jumped into a portal landing on a moon-like planet called IMOKUROK.
For a couple years it was the stomping ground for my adventures and it was quite far out. Every time I visited, my mind expanded and my life back on earth ;-) became deeper, richer and much more interesting.
It felt natural for me to make art to document my travels, which was strange because I certainly didn’t feel like an artist. The arts and crafts that were born from this time are tough and tender and weird, but I knew the process was slowly but surely bringing me back to myself. I used trash and nature and plaster and paint . . .and pain. I made tools to protect myself, sculptures of imaginary friends and maps and codes which, at the time I absolutely did not understand.
The experiences of that time certainly made me a little bit more strange than I already was, and I couldn’t be happier about that. Below is a peek into of what came to be, and over here there’s a little bit more about the portal that got me there.
